Single release

On Midsummer's Day, here is a song for Christmas

24 June 2018

Xmas Song is a take on the pressures of Christmas: the combined expectations of family, tradition and commercialism.

The Monday after the Christmas break is known as 'divorce day' by lawyers. UK adults spent an average of £244 on gifts, and families £821 on seasonal stuff last year. Much of this is waste. Discarded UK wrapping paper would reach the moon, end-on-end, whilst cards would span the globe five times. 41% of toys given to children are broken within 3 months.

This sparse song features only Sarah on vocals and Aura on violin, whilst I played computer. It seemed appropriate to bring it out 180 degrees from Christmas Day. Now available at main online music stores or from this website.

New album - Hopes & Fears

Hopes & Fears, the new album, is released today - 11 May 2018.

With eleven new and original songs and contributions from thirteen musicians and singer, it touches on themes like teenage mental health, new and fading relationships, death and life, human support and special moments.

First single release

"This isn’t your typical pop hit,
but something much, much better."

Graame Smith, York Calling

The new single, Mr & Mrs Goode, draws on the naive, tragic and true romance of two Florida teenagers. He was eighteen, she was seventeen. Her parents tried to keep her in the house to prevent them from seeing each other, but they broke free and went on the run leaving letters, apparently suicide notes, to their families. Events led to the fatal shooting of a police officer and their own deaths.

The lyrics draw on their own words written in messages to each other and to their families. The words on the single's cover are hers: a list of her hopes for the future once she reached the freedom of her eighteenth birthday.
